User Login Page
Posted: 19 Mar 2002 07:31 PM
Hi, I'm new to this Java script thing and I would like to create a simple user login pg whereby the user will have to enter he's pin number and password before being allowed entry.
I'm using access to hold the table containing the user pin and password. How am I suppose to query this database for verifying the user pin and password.
thanks for the help!

Hi!
I am kinda new at this stuff too.... but I am working with a bunch of java script pages that call on "access" database.... so the way that my pages work with the database is...

First you have to open a database connection (I don't really know how to do that with your page... because my pages are connected to a server and there is some extra stuff to type in for me)
this is what mine looks like, I think that yours should look simular with just a few things changed...

<%
Dim connect

set connect = server.createobject("ADODB.connection")
connect.open "DSN= (whatever your section of the database is called)"
set record=server.createobject("ADODB.recordset")
%>

after you open it, you have to creat a query

<%
query="select (the column name) from (whatever your section of the database is called)"
set record=connect.execute(query)
%>

<%
Dim password
password = request.form(" column name of where the password is ")

if record(" where the use entered the password ") = "password" then
response.write "correct"
else
response.write "incorrect"
end if
%>

this is just a rough sketch of what you want to do, becuase like I said, I am also new to this stuff.
I am pretty sure that this is a good outline, but I hope some one else can further help you.
I hope this is of some help.
