Top Navigation Bar II - Funny quirk ?
Posted: 23 May 2002 04:50 PM
Hi, I'm new to javascript, but I just downloaded and added the Top Navigation Bar II script from the Pull Down menu section of this web site. The script is wonderful, but it has one glich which i'm not sure if its me or the code.

Therefore I have 2 questions and would appreciate any help.
Question 1-
Regardless of how many sections I put in the bar header, it always leaves/adds a blank grey section of bar that continues to the end of the screen on the right.I have tried reducing the size of bar header, but the blank part will always increase and extend to the end. How do I set the exact width of the header itself and not just the menu sections or remove the blank grey space ?

Question 2-
Where do I find the numbers that refer to color so i can change the color of the bar header. I see series of 6 numbers for the colors, but am not sure where to look to determine the colors i want. is there a standard labeling/color system for javavscript ?

Thank you for your kind attention.
Charlie

Charlie,

As far as Colors are concerned.
THey are not JS Color numbers they are standard color number that will work anywhere.

above is the link where you can find lots of color codes.

Hey.

In navbar.js look for the following line:
"navBarMenus[navBarMenus.length] = new Array("я", "");"

It's around line number 236. Remove the 'nbsp' from the "".
It will take away that empty box.

OR

Just comment the whole line out & it will stretch the menu to the edge of the screen.

Thank you both for your kind replies. it really helps.
For Quintin Saaiman, how do I open the .js file. Do I need a special program ? I tried double clicking on the file I downloaded, but it does not open, so how can it be edited as you requested ?
Once again, please excuse my ignorance, I'm just learning. Thank you much. Charlie

Ok...I'm learning. Please ignore my most recent post as I was able to open/edit the .js file using a text editor. The change removed the remaining menu bar that extended to the right of the screen, but it still kept the top border line only. Everything is perfect!
DON'T YOU JUST LOVE JAVASCRIPT ? Anyway, Quintin, if it not too much trouble, could you please let me know if it is possible to remove that top border line. I really appreciate your help. Please let me know if there is any way I can somehow return the favor.
Thanks Charlie
